113411 - Water Safety Instructor Certification
WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION REGISTRATION: FIRST SESSION DAY
Become a certified Red Cross water safety instructor. Learn to teach children and adults how to swim and give water safety presentations. There are three sessions to choose from and participants must attend each class during the designated times. There are no makeup days. Be prepared to enter the water on each day during your session. Participants will need to complete an online orientation prior to the first class date. This information will be emailed once registered. Two manuals must also be purchased and brought to each class: Water Safety Instructor and Swimming and Water Safety. They are available at instructorscorner.com/wsicandidates > Participant tab > Access Digital Materials OR Purchase Print Materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 16 by April 1, 2019.
Must pass a pre-course swimming skills test (Red Cross Level 4: front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, side stroke, breaststroke and butterfly).
Must be able to tread water for one minute and float on your back for one minute.

210201 - American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING PROGRAM REGISTRATION: THROUGH FIRST SESSION DAY
Looking for a great summer job or challenging career? Get lifeguard certified! Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you will learn patron rescue, surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED. Participants will receive a two-year CPR/AED certification and two-year lifeguarding certification. There are five sessions to choose from. Participants must attend each class during their session at the times listed and be prepared to enter the water each day. Candidates must pass written and practical exams in order to receive certifications. You may download a lifeguard manual or purchase required books from redcrossstore.org. City of College Station lifeguard candidates must be at least 16 years old.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be of mature and dependable character.
Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously in the following order with no time requirement: 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing (to the side or front) and a stabilizing, propellant kick; 100 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breath, kick and glide sequence; and 100 yards of either the front crawl, breaststroke or combination.
Must be able to swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke (starting in the water), surface dive 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point while maintaining two hands on the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps; within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Must be able to tread in deep water without use of hands for two minutes.
Participant must be able to successfully complete the above pre-requisites in order to continue with the lifeguarding class.
RECERTIFICATION: $85 fee. Course length: 15 hours. Must provide proof of an ARC certification to participate. Recertification candidates must attend the Friday and Sunday classes. Candidates have the option to attend Saturday morning for re-training in CPR/AED/First Aid.

210204 - American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Training
Ages 17+ $175 Course length: 21 hours and 45 minutes
The purpose of the instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding (Water ? 3), Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens Training courses and/or modules. There will be two sessions available to choose from.
There is an online component that must be completed prior to the first day of class. E-mail the Aquatics Supervisor at brussell@cstx.gov after completing the online registration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Be at least 17 years old on or before the last day of the instructor course
Possess one of the following:
A current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
Successfully complete the Online Session for the Lifeguarding Instructor course, which consists of the following:
o Orientation to the American Red Cross
o Orientation to the Lifeguarding Instructor Course and Precourse Exam
Successfully complete the Precourse Session

215401 - Tsunami Swim Team
TSUNAMI SWIM TEAM REGISTRATION: ENDS JUNE 24
Introduces participants to competitive swimming. Participants practice throughout the summer, gaining strength and stroke confidence. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in meets, which are divided by age and gender.
Ages 5-18 $125/swimmer* May 1-July 23 Practice times & meets vary Adamson Lagoon
*$10 discount for each additional sibling that is registered. Fee will be waived for ages 15-18 who compete in at least three meets. Fee will be reduced by 50 percent for parents who work as Stroke and Turn Judge/Official at least three times during the season. If four meets are worked, then there will be no associated fee.
QUALIFICATIONS: Participants must be able to swim the length of a 25-yard pool (any stroke), and be registered in the CSISD or live in a city that does not have a swim team.

TSUNAMI SWIM TEAM: MEET THE COACH NIGHT
Parents and swimmers are invited to learn more about the Tsunami Swim Team and meet the coaches. Swimmers will be introduced to how practices and swim meets are run, view Adamson Lagoon's layout, and learn dry land exercises. Parents will complete administrative items, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and have questions answered. On-site registration will be available. You only need to attend one meeting.

TSUNAMI SWIM TEAM: EVALUATIONS
Evaluations are required for new and returning swimmers. These will help coaches place swimmers in the appropriate practice groups and provide the best opportunity for skill development.

SWIM TEAM PREPARATION
The two-day course focuses on the four competitive strokes and competitive turns. Our new and returning swimmers also get a chance to become familiar with the facility and our practice format. Swim team preparation is available at no charge to registered Tsunami swimmers for the 2019 season.
